Quarry Bank Mill

Quarry Bank Mill near Style in Cheshire was founded by Samuel Greg in 1784 to harness the power of the  River_Bollin  for cotton spinning. It is now in the hands of the National Trust.  The mill continued in  production until 1959.

Like most cotton mills of the time it employed a lot of pauper apprentices. Unlike other mills of the time the children were fairly well treated.

I have seen the inside of a lot of old cotton mills so we just strolled about outside. The charges for going into the mill, Apprentice House and Secret Garden were greater than my interest.
